Day 1-Tear Down
So, let me tell you about the answer to a prayer that we didn't even pray.
I looked on Craigslist under the "wanted" to see if anyone was looking for cabinets. Someone called and wanted them AND offered to help remove them!
Two burly guys showed up, took down the cabinets, decided they didn't want them, took our dishwasher and left! FREE help from strong strangers! Angels perhaps :)
And now, the folks coming to take our old cabinets are using them for a church. Now you know that makes us happy! :)
And here was an unexpected surprise...a nail in the drain pipe! Whoever put up the drywall nailed it right into the pipe. So, over the years, we have had VERY slow drip and the wall was moldy. Not as bad as it could have been though.
And another mold surprise behind the microwave. The vent that goes outside, well, we can SEE outside. So, we'll need to replace some drywall here AND caulk to keep the outside, outside.
And we decided, because of the mold, to tear out the tile. We didn't like it that much anyway, but it is a new project that we were not expecting.
More good news: No arguments today! Kaz came by and gave us a hand. Jamie and Abby are cleaning up the dusty floors. And it was communicated without malice that my indoor vacuum cleaner is not for the construction site. Over all, a very successful day.
Now Danny is off to tear up the gate so that the fridge can go thru the backyard and come in the sliding glass door which he will take down tomorrow morning!
Fun! ;)
